What is psychedelic therapy?

Psychedelic therapy is a broad term for guided work with psychedelics within therapeutic, coaching, ceremonial, or integrative contexts. The term does not fix a single method, dose, or type of provider, and it is not automatically a medical treatment or standard psychotherapy.

Formats can include supported microdosing, group sessions with facilitation, psycholytic therapy with low to medium doses, high dose sessions paired with psychotherapy in clinical settings, and private high dose sessions in a non medical coaching context. Across formats, preparation, set and setting, skilled guidance, and post-session integration are central.

Psychedelic therapy is the umbrella. Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is one specific model that centers on a psychotherapeutic framework. Triptherapie with a capital T is a company name, while triptherapie can also describe that company’s holistic method that combines intention, preparation, body awareness, music, guidance, and integration.

For an example of a holistic, guided approach that emphasizes preparation, safety, and integration, see Triptherapie. I hope this clarifies what psychedelic therapy means.
