Mushroom drops, or paddo tinctures, are liquid extracts made by soaking psilocybin-containing mushrooms in high-proof alcohol. They are usually taken under the tongue, with onset often in 15 to 30 minutes and a total experience that can last about 4 to 6 hours.
In the Netherlands, psilocybin is illegal. Bottles sold as paddo drops may contain other tryptamines instead, such as 4-HO-MET. Because these products are rarely standardized or tested, you cannot verify what is inside or how strong it is, and the concentrated format makes it easy to take more than intended.
Effects can range from subtle shifts in mood and perception at low amounts to intense visual and emotional changes at higher amounts. Set and setting are key, and combining with alcohol or other drugs can make effects unpredictable. If a product contains psilocybin, it falls under the Opium Act and carries legal risk.
